One in Five children in the United States live in a food-insecure household.

That’s an average of 17.4 million households that don’t have enough food to eat every day.

Food insecurity is harmful to any individual, but it can be particularly devastating among children due to their increased vulnerability and the potential for long-term consequences.
As a result, Tan’s Treats has one main purpose, which all of our efforts revolve around, and that is to provide meals for children in need on weekends, when school food programs aren’t available.

The Hungry Hustle 5k Fun Run Fundraiser makes a BIG impact!

50,000+ Meals to hungry kids!

On average, the Hungry Hustle 5k raises enough funds to provide more than 50,000 meals to food-insecure children in Washington County. That’s enough food to supplement meals for 150 hungry children for one entire school year! That means 150 hungry children in Washington County won’t go to school hungry and will have the ability to focus on what’s important, learning, growth and development.

Getting involved is simple.

Tan’s Treats provides many ways and opportunities to provide service and help those in need.

Donate

Donate any amount of money to aid in the purchase of food for children in need.
It costs an average of $20 per month, per child, to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner over the weekend.

Select an option below to donate.

Volunteer

Volunteer to help prepare “backpacks” which are stocked weekly with food, then delivered to children to take home over the weekend. Each week the need for assistance in preparing bags of food is different.

Fundraise/Food Drive

Start your own personal fundraiser. Raising money, even for something you care deeply about, is intimidating for most people.

The dollars you help us raise allow Tan’s Treats to provide means for families, especially children, who will otherwise go hungry without it.

Share your experience

It’s simple. Take a moment to inspire others to volunteer by sharing a picture of your volunteer experience on social media.
Tag us on Instagram or Facebook and use the hashtag #TansTreats.

You’ll be surprised how many people you can inspire just by sharing your experience.
